Noh, Dongyong

Dongyong Noh is a Korean Verdi baritone based in France, recognized for his rich, resonant voice and commanding stage presence, with a particular affinity for the Verdi repertoire.

He made his European debut in 2015 as Rigoletto in Verdi’s Rigoletto at Festival Verdi and Teatro Verdi in Italy.

In 2025, he covered Iago in Verdi’s Otello at ABAO Bilbao Opera in Spain and Kurwenal in Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde in the Korea national Opera, under the baton of Jaap van Zweden.

In April 2026, he performed Albert in Massenet’s Werther with the Korea National Opera, and in December 2026, he will return to the company as Marquis de Pose in Verdi’s Don Carlos.

His recent engagements also include Monforte in Verdi’s I vespri siciliani with Korea National Opera in 2024; Nabucco in Verdi’s Nabucco with the Korea National Opera in 2023, marking his Korean debut; Tonio in Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci and Alfio in Mascagni’s Cavalleria rusticana at the Teatro Antico di Taormina in 2023; Amonasro in Verdi’s Aida at the Taormina in 2022; and Tonio in Pagliacci and Alfio in Cavalleria rusticana in Avignon, Reims, Vichy, Clermont-Ferrand, massy, and at the Festival de Saint-Cere and Capri Opera Festival in 2022. Earlier engagements include Macbeth in Verdi’s Macbeth at Théâtre Gérard Philipe in France in 2017.

In 2024, he received the New Voice Award (Rookie of the Year) at the Korea National Opera Awards.

His international competition prizes include: Winner – Clermont-Ferrand International Competition (France); 1st Prize – Piero Cappuccilli International Competition (Italy); 1st Prize & Audience Prize – Grandi Voci International Competition (Austria); 1st Prize & Audience Prize – Germans Pla International Competition (Spain); 1st Prize – Ismaele Voltolini International Competition (Italy); 1st Prize – Vivonne International Competition (France); and Prix d’Honneur – Léopold Bellan International Competition (France).

Dongyong Noh holds a Master of Arts in Opera from the Korea National University of Arts and completed the DEM (Diplôme d’Études Musicales) and PEF (Perfectionnement) at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Versailles in France.
