A vibrant and engaging month lies ahead for Ascolta Artists, with a wide spectrum of performances ranging from sacred masterpieces to opera and contemporary theatre.
At the beginning of April, tenor Conny Thimander appears as the Evangelist in Bach’s Johannespassion with the Orquestra Gulbenkian in Lisbon (April 1 & 2). In this pivotal role, he shapes the narrative with precision and expressive intensity, guiding the audience through the music’s powerful dramatic arc.
On April 4, soprano Lilla Lee takes the stage at the Sofia Opera and Ballet as Cio-Cio-San in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly— a role of great emotional nuance and lyrical intensity.
Mozart’s Requiem is performed from April 16 to 19 by the Sønderjyllands Symfoniorkester, featuring bass Simon Duus and mezzo-soprano Sidsel Eriksen. Their contributions form part of a richly layered interpretation of this enduring and profoundly moving masterpiece.
From April 24, Steffen Bruun appears in Jeanne D’Arc at Teater Sort/Hvid, in a production that offers a distinctive and contemporary perspective on the legendary figure, running through May 22.
At the same time, from April 24 to 26, mezzo-soprano Cecilia Lund Tomter joins Opera Nordfjord for a series of concerts combining operatic arias with Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 — a program of striking contrast and emotional breadth.
April reflects the artistic versatility of Ascolta Artists, with performances that highlight both individuality and collaboration across a rich variety of repertoire.
